Quilting Monoprints

Continuing with my C&G course, the next task was to quilt with straight stitches along the lines I had made when I monoprinted on fabric in the previous task or activity, as they call it.

It’s funny, because some of the tasks are quite daunting and others are just child's play……. This one was just that, child's play and I’m mostly posting this for those of you who consider doing an on-line C&G, to show that it can be easy as well.

Straight stitch quilting with twin needles, following the lines. This combination of monoprinting and twin needles looks great, and is a technique I shall return to in the future, it has great potential.

Detail: You can see an enlarged picture if you click on it - why this doesn't work with the other pictures shall remain a mystery

This one is just straight stitch quilting, following the lines; for this kind of quilting I would normally have chosen to do it free-motion, but it was fun to do anyway.

I am getting the hang of this, shorter posts and more often helps cut down on time waisted on "How is it I normally do this?" and "I can't remember how to do that?" etc.

Tip: I now have a dedicated notebook in three sections: Computer, Blogging and Photoshop Elements. I make a lot of notes! Blogging for Dummies has also helped a lot.

Ps. Today we celebrate 15 years in Guernsey!

Good Morning!
My friend Jeannie told me about your blog and I have been happily reading away about your fiber art adventures!
I have been seriously considering signing up for the C & G course. Are you enjoying it? I love your monoprints!
Your Rage quilt is phenomenal...very much like a Nancy Crow quilt, I think.
Also, congrats on being included in a book....but what an odd way to find out about it!
You seem to lead an idyllic life: spending time in Denmark and Guernsey! What fun!!!

Peace!

Good Afternoon, Judy ☺ (it is 4 pm here).

Thanks for your great comments, I'm enjoying the C&G enormously - what you do need [and I lack], is self-discipline, because the teacher do not stand over you all the time [thank goodness]. You are welcome to e-mail me if you have questions.

Uh, it's the first time I've been compared with Nancy, I am very, very flattered. I have just sent of quilt pictures to the forthcoming 500 quilts from Lark publishers - cross you fingers that I get in.

A very idyllic life it is................. and I am enjoying every moment.

Hi Mai Britt
Greetings from Dulwich! I have been reading and sometimes smiling at your various entries. I didn't know you were doing a C&G course - good luck. I am so pleased that part of my life is over but I did the old C&G Embroidery Course which entailed written exams etc. It was an amazing experience.
I can equate with your feelings of making up thickened dye paint etc rather than have it done for you but it is good for one's soul or so I am told. The down part is that you feel obliged to do more and more so that you don't waste the chemical water etc., and I don't have that many free days at the moment.
Best to you -
Khurshid

Thank you for looking in and leaving a comment, Khurshid. I am doing my C&G on-line with the Kemshalls, Catherine Nicholls being my tutor. It's great because you can do it in your own time [although I'm taking too long].

Thanks for the tip! BTW, your work is AMAZING! I've never even seen such a thing although in the back of my head I knew it must exist somewhere. I love what you do and maybe someday I'll try it, but if I start yet another project I may be in deep trouble.
